Bust "Francesca". Made of marble. The author is a sculptor Giuseppe Bessi (Besgi). Italy, the end of the XIX century. - the beginning of the XX century.
Giuseppe Bessi (1857–1922) is an Italian sculptor known for his detailed busts and sculptures by historical figures such as Beethoven, Jeanne d’Arc, Dante Alighieri and Beatrice. Mostly artist worked in marble and alabaster. Bessi was born in the city of Volterra, and was educated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Upon graduation, Bessie returned to his hometown, opened a workshop there and his School of Art. He signed his works: “Prof G Besgi”. His works took part in world exhibitions in particular: in Paris, Turin and St. Louis. Bessie's works are in the State Hermitage Museum and the Museum of Alabaster in Volterra.
