Antique lamp-sculpture "Cossack"
Antique table lamp "Cossack". The lamp is stylized as a sculpture of a Cossack with a lance in his hand, viewing the surroundings from under the palm of his hand. Vienna bronze, casting, shade - alabaster. At the base of the sculpture there is a signature: Bauer. Austria, Vienna, XX century.
Siegfried Bauer (1880-1942) - born in Moravia and trained for four years as a ceramic worker in the Czech Republic, Znojmo. He studied between 1902 and 1909 at the Vienna Academy of Arts with Karl Kundman. After graduating in 1919, he became a permanent member of the Vienna House of Artists - Künstlerhaus. In 1942, he was stripped of his rights due to racist views and deported to the Izbitsky death camp, where he subsequently ended his life.
