Glass manufactory St. Louis opened in 1586 and produced glassware. But even then, the masterpieces of the glassblowers working there enjoyed great success and impressed even sophisticated people. Louis XV himself was so delighted with the work of the masters that in 1767 he awarded the factory the title of royal. In 1782, Francois de Beaufort developed a new formula and created something unusual - colored crystal and the manufactory became known as Chritallerie Royale de Saint-Louis. Very quickly, the once small factory gained worldwide recognition in the crystal market. Factory St. Louis exists to this day, and still as then, all objects are created and painted by hand, preserving and passing on the endless love for the art and beauty of crystal.
