Antique ship's wheel. An integral attribute of any sea vessel in our time.
The first mentions of steering wheels in their close to modern form date back to the beginning of the 18th century. Prior to this, the vessels were controlled by a system of cables and levers. The steering wheel made it possible to concentrate control of the entire ship in the hands of one person - the captain.
The item is made of oak and brass. XX century.
