In this picture, everything is permeated with cold silvery northern light. The sky is high, beautiful clouds are displayed in the water. And one of the eternal symbols of Holland is a cow. The realist landscape painter shows his native land without embellishment, such as it is. That is why paintings of this kind were taken with them by Dutch emigrants who left the country and sought to preserve a tender memory of it in a foreign land.
