In 1921, when Picasso was 40 years old, he became a father. Biographers claim that in the early years the artist was so happy that he very often painted his wife (Russian ballerina, artist of the Russian Ballet) Olga Khokhlova and little Paulo, it happened that several works a day. The portrait depicts a boy dressed as a Harlequin - this is a replica of Picasso in memory of his passion for the circus during his youth, at that time harlequins and acrobats were a frequent subject of his work.
