Manufactory Schwarzenhammer (Schwarzenhammer) was founded in 1905 by Christoph Schumann (brother of Carl Schumann and his father-in-law Carl August Schrader, a wealthy landowner). In 1913, it employed 150 employees and specialized in household items in the Straw Flower (Strohblume) and Blue Bow (Zwiebelmuster) styles. Slowly the company expanded, in 1937 the factory employed about 400 people. It went bankrupt in 1984. After closing in 1986, it left the industrial ruins of the settlement.
