Coro (1902 – 1969) is an American brand of costume jewelry. Entrepreneurs Emmanuel Cohn and Karl Rosenberg opened their first store back in 1902. Back then they sold inexpensive jewelry and accessories. Some of the decorations were made by them with their own hands. Things began to be in demand - and in 1913 they opened a manufactory producing inexpensive jewelry. In addition, the company produced luxury items made of silver and gold, which were sold in other boutiques. Expensive items were marked with the VENDOME brand, and products at more affordable prices were marked “Coro”. Even the Great Depression did not stop them - already in 1929, the partners opened another factory, which became the world's largest enterprise for the production of costume jewelry. It was Coro that created the first designer brooches that could be worn individually or together. And if desired, they could be connected into one using special clamps. Particularly popular were items from the “Jelly Belly” series – decorations in the shape of animals made of multi-colored glass and plastic. The company managed to complete about 140 projects. In 1969, Richton acquired a majority stake and became the actual owner of Coro.
