In German Thuringia, the two adjacent cities of Volkstedt and Rudolstadt became the place of concentration of several porcelain industries. One of these manufactories is "Aelteste Volkstedter Porzellanfabrik", founded by Georg Heinrich Macheleid, an employee of the glass factory, who wanted to create the same popular and profitable products as Meissen. Georg received a production license in 1760, but the date of foundation is considered to be the end of the factory's relocation from Sitzendorf to the vicinity of Rudolstadt.
