Kutani is a type of Japanese porcelain made in Ishikawa Prefecture on the island of Kyushu. Mostly in the city of Kaga in the Kutani region. Kutani - literally - nine valleys. Porcelain and, in general, Kutani ceramics are easily distinguishable from Arita porcelain both in colors and style of painting, and in the nature of the composition of the clay. It is thicker and different in color. Kutani products are mainly produced in small family workshops with their own traditions and recognizable style.
