Vase, Pertti Santalahti
Vintage handmade vase by Finnish designer Pertti Santalahti. Made of blown transparent and brown glass. Has an original look. Humppila company. Finland, 1970s.Pertti Santalahti was born in 1941 in Finland. He graduated from the Helsinki School of Art and Design in 1962. He then worked for many Finnish glass and ceramic companies including Kupittaan Savi, Nuutajarvi, Alsterfors (in Sweden), Arabia and iittala. In 1974 he became Artistic Director at Humpil there. In 1981, he left and became a freelancer. Santalahti died in 2015.
While at Humppila, he developed a number of mass production series, the most famous of which are Kivi-Set and Kasvimaalla. Today the factory operates as a souvenir shop and is part of the iittala group.
