Vintage Kutani vase. Made of porcelain, hand painted. This is the work of ceramicist Shigeto Nakamura (Japanese: 中村重人), a traditional master of Kutani. There is a handwritten signature from the author "重人" on the bottom. Includes tomobako and certificate of authenticity. This vase is made in the Kutani style, called gosai - five colors (dark blue, red, yellow, green and purple). Japan, twentieth century.

Shigeto Nakamura studied with Isokichi Asakura, the first Kutani artist to receive the Order of Culture (文化勲章 bunkakunsho). Nakamura was certified as a traditional artisan by the Minister of International Trade and Industry. His work is characterized by outstanding drawing ability and a style that continues to preserve the tradition of Kutani ware.
