Antique vase "Wisteria and peonies" in the technique of yusen-sippo
Antique vase-pot with a pattern of peonies and wisteria. Made in the technique of yusen-sippo (the so-called Japanese cloisonne). Unlike the relatively common Chinese cloisonne, the sippo technique is more labor intensive. The background of such products is plain and does not contain visible metal partitions, while on the Chinese cloisonne one can easily see the contours from the metal threads that hold the enamel. Most often, the background for the main picture of yusen-sippo is plain (light blue, blue or black) - in this case, dark blue. Japan, Meiji era, early 20th century.
