Antique wall plate, Delft
Antique wall plate. Porcelain, craquelure, hand painted. On the reverse side there is a manufacturer's marking and the artist's initials. Holland, 1943.Delft has been producing high quality products since 1653. The color scheme of Delft porcelain is blue and white. The famous blue color is obtained due to the content of cobalt oxide pigment in black paint. These colors are associated with Gzhel, and this is not an accident. The combination of the Gzhel manufactory was borrowed from the masters of Delft.
A characteristic feature of porcelain is the use of multiple glazing techniques. Due to the fact that the final firing is carried out at a low temperature, the quality of the products produced is more reminiscent of earthenware.
