Imura Hikojiro
Antique vase with fans. Made of porcelain, covered with hand painting. The handle of the lid is made in the form of traditional Japanese fans. The inscription on the shard confirms that the work belongs to Imura Hikojiro - on the bottom there is a marking with the inscription "Nippon Yokohama Imura Sei" - "日本横濱 井村製" - "Made in Imura, Yokohama, Japan". Japan, 19th century.
The full name of the author is Imura Hikojiro (井村彦次郎), he worked in Yokohama from about 1875, specialized in scenes 花鳥風月 "kachou fugetsu" "flowers, birds, wind and moon". It is known that he also worked with Miyagawa Kazan (宮川香山). Most of Iruma Hikojira's works date back to the late Meiji period, around 1890, but there is information that there was a workshop that continued to operate during the Taisho period (1912-1926) until the 1920s.
