Antique paired Bodhisattva vases. Made of porcelain. The body of the vases is decorated with images of saints and Guanyin, the deity of infinite mercy and compassion. The handles are made in the shape of oriental dragons. There is a stamp of Satsuma workshops. Japan, the 19th century.


The vase is made in the shape of a "bianhu", this name can be translated as "pilgrim's bottle" or "wine vase". The design of such bottles was brought to China and Japan by Buddhist pilgrims. Such vessels were first made in the Ming era. Vases of this shape are also called "moon flasks".
