Decorative pillow
Decorative pillow based on the Orange Tree or Cluny Tree tapestry. Made of fabric. Europe, 20th century.
The original tapestry was created in the 16th century in France. The tapestry was commissioned by a wealthy noble or church customer, possibly to decorate the interiors of a castle or monastery. It is made of fine wool and silk threads, which indicates the high skill of the weavers and the richness of the technique. The name "Cluny Tree" is associated with the famous Cluny Abbey in France, which was famous for its rich collection of art and manuscripts, as well as symbolism associated with nature and spirituality.
The tapestry depicts an orange tree, which symbolized wealth, abundance and well-being. Oranges were a rare and expensive product brought from the Mediterranean, and were often associated with luxury and royalty. In the context of the tapestry, the tree symbolizes not only material wealth, but also spiritual rebirth, harmony with nature and grace.
