Rare and stunning in its execution and design antique SEGUSO chandelier. Made of Murano glass. Italy, 1940s
The beginning of the great dynasty of glass blowers dates back to 1397. It is one of the oldest families of glass blowers on the island of Murano. In 1605, they were entered into the Golden Book of Murano, thereby receiving a title of nobility and privileges. The year 1933 becomes an important chapter in the history of the Murano glassworks - the year of the birth of the Seguso Vetri d'Arte. The company actively participates in the Triennial in Milan, where the company receives the "Grand Prix" in four different nominations. Also at the World Exhibition in Brussels, Expo 1958 receives the Grand Prix, which confirms the international value of their achievements. Seguso's opulent chandeliers have adorned royal houses, noble residences, prestigious hotels and theaters for centuries, and the highest quality and artistic craftsmanship have attracted SEGUSO to collaborate with many international luxury brands: Donghia, Fendi, Frette, Mikimoto and Swarovski. Seguzo's creations can be found in more than 75 museums around the world, in private collections and found at the world's most famous auctions. Today, the SEGUSO archives contain thousands of historical drawings, which testifies to its activities over the centuries and the important contribution of the glassblowing family to the history of Murano glass.
