Marcel Layos Breuer (1902 - 1981), a modernist architect of Hungarian origin and furniture designer. Headed one of the departments of the Bauhaus in Dessau, Germany.
The chairs themselves became known as "Wassily", thanks to Breuer's acquaintance with the famous artist Wassily Kandinsky. Kandinsky was very impressed with the design of the chairs and he asked me to make such for personal premises.
