Fernand-Anne Pestre Cormon (1845-1924) - French realist artist. He began studying painting in Brussels and by 1863 returned to France, where he continued to study. In his work he was inclined to the academic style in art. Exhibited at several Paris Salons. He was the creator and at the same time teacher of his own art school. His students were eminent artists such as: Charles Dene, Vincent van Gogh, Emile Bernard, Eugene Bosch and others.In 1880 he was awarded the title of Knight of Honor, and by 1898 he headed the National School of Fine Arts and became a member of the Academy of Fine Arts. Several works of the master are stored in the Museum of Fine Arts Orsay, in Paris.
