Antique painting of the acrobats before the presentation
Antique painting "Acrobats before the show". Oil on wood. Craftsman: Maurice Georges Poncelet (1897-1978). France, XX centurySpecializing mainly in still lifes, Poncelet has always exhibited in the best Parisian galleries.
After the Second World War, the artist moved to Catalonia, which inspired him with rural and peasant life. But, of course, the circus was the only one from which the artist drew inspiration. He never stops portraying sad clowns, tired squires, improvised tents and trumpeting fanfare - the most typical part of the life of acrobats.
The master's works can be seen in the Center Pompidou, in the Museum of Swimming Pools, in Roubaix, in Toulouse and the Museum of Modern Art in Céret.
