Antique pair candlesticks
Antique pair of candlesticks in the Qing dynasty cloisonne technique. Made of gilded bronze and enamel. Unusual and rare candlesticks in the form of cranes, which stand on the backs of dragon turtles. Each crane holds a lotus branch in its beak, ending in a candle bowl. China, XIX century.
Cloisonne cloisonne enamel technique originated in China in the 14th century. The technology for making decor using this technique requires a lot of attention and painstaking work: very thin copper wires are drunk onto a metal mold, which form cells. After the drawing is ready, the cells are filled with multi-colored enamel and the product is fired in the oven. When the object cools down, it is sanded to make the surface even. Products made using the cloisonne technique gained unprecedented popularity in the 17th century and were mainly used to decorate imperial palaces and temples. Over time, the technique developed, the range of products expanded, the items acquired great sophistication. Today, objects of art made in the cloisonné technique of cloisonne enamel decorate modern interiors, giving them a bright oriental flavor.
