He was educated at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière and the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, studying engraving, painting and sculpture. Early in his career, he painted many drawings, illustrated books, and produced portrait lithographs. But he still found his calling in painting. His early work was melancholic and a little gloomy, but later the palette brightened and acquired brighter colors. He exhibited at the Salon d'Automne and the Salne de May in Paris. His works can be found at world auctions and in private collections.
