Antique painting "still life with cherries". Oil on wood. France, XX century Painter: Louis Francois Gaultier (October 10, Aix en Provence, 1855-1947). Portrait painter, landscape painter, decorator. After winning a competition in his hometown, he moved to Paris, where he studied with Alexander Cabanel from 1880 to 1884. He took part in an art exhibition in Paris, in a salon in Marseille, participated in various collective exhibitions in Montpellier, Avignon and Aix en Provence. He painted several portraits, including Corot, several views of Vaucluse, Languedoc, Luberon. His landscapes, painted with special delicacy, brought him the fame of "Master of Landscapes". In 1887, Gaultier was appointed a representative of the Art Academy of Aix en Provence. In 1894, together with Edouard Ducros, he founded the Society of Friends of Art Aix en Provence, in 1901 - the Ethnographic Museum. The master's works can be seen in museums: Aix en Provence (Granet Museum), Montpellier - Fabre Museum.
