Antique vase "Pheasants and flowers", Satsuma
Antique vase with images of colorful pheasants, peonies and hydrangeas. Irises are depicted on the back of the vessel. The vase is decorated with craquelure. There is a brand of Satsuma workshop. Japan, XX century.
The Satsuma style got its name in honor of the province where production began. The earliest known products date back to the middle of the XVII century, at that time the shard was still dark in color. And the world-famous Satsuma-style products appeared at the end of the Edo era. Master Kinkozan Sobei is considered the founder of the style, it was he who began working with very thin creamy - white porcelain, painting it in a characteristic manner.
