Vintage sculpture "Cupid Drawing a Bow". Patinated bronze, marble base. The subject of the composition is a baby holding a bow in his hands. Technically, the sculpture is executed at a high level, starting from the shape of the body, the image and relief of feathers, curly hair, fingers and toes, and ending with the sly look of the baby - Cupid. The sculpture was created by the French sculptor Charles Louchet. In the Hellenistic period, his iconography included a bow and arrow, which represented the source of Cupid's power: a person or even a deity who is shot by Cupid's arrow is filled with uncontrollable desire, that is, falls in love. He is also known in Latin as Amur ("Love"), and his Greek counterpart is Eros. The small sculpture is located on a black square marble base and has the artist's signature. France, 20th century.
