Antique Kutani vase. Underglaze and overglaze painting. Decorated with images of fo dogs on a traditional yellow background with a patent called the "Nanako Komon motif". There is a hallmark of the Kutani workshop, Yoshidai Denemon. Japan, 20th century.

Yoshidai Denemon is an influential merchant who made a significant contribution to the revival of the ceramics production culture of the Kutani workshops. In 1824, he founded a workshop in Kaga, later in Yamashiro. After 7 years, the Yoshidai workshop was forced to close. Later, his business was continued by the potter Iidaya Hachiroemon. The charm of the Yoshidai style lies in the use of translucent pigment and an elegant manner of writing, as well as in exquisite, extremely skillfully painted pictures. The vase is painted and covered with yellow glaze - complex and fast brush work gives the picture lightness. Compared to the Ko-Kutani style, which is characterized by strong gosu lines (black outline lines), the Yoshidai style is more precise and graceful.
