Antique Louis XIV mirror. The mirror is made of wood and resin, covered with gold leaf in the shape of a tondo. The mirror is decorated with carvings in the form of acanthus leaves. Europe, XX.
Since ancient Greece, acanthus leaves symbolize heroic deeds and valor. Later, in the Renaissance, acanthus leaves began to symbolize movement, growth and a symbol of life, being an allegory of reverence for the fine arts.
