Antique vase by Aoki Mokubei, Kutani. Porcelain, overglaze and underglaze painting. Japan, 19th century. Mokubei's products are distinguished by the background being painted in red, a lot of hand painting, images of wanderers, saints, old people, children with painting in 5 colors. Aoki Mokubei - san (1767 - 1833) began his career as a potter at the age of 30. He is considered one of the greatest masters of Japan along with Ninsei and Kenzan.
