Vintage lamp Mazzega
Vintage Mazzega lamp. Made of two-tone Murano glass, frame - chrome-plated metal. Design - Carlo Nason. Italy, twentieth century.
Carlo Nason comes from one of the oldest families of Murano glassblowers. Born in 1935 in Murano, Venice. His father, Vincenzo Nason, ran the famous glass business NasonMoretti, so from an early age the younger Nason was trained in the art of glassblowing, studying the properties of the material and the craft techniques used in shaping and decorating glass. The very first objects designed by Carlo Nason date back to 1959 and are part of a collection of blow molds made by V Nason & C. Today they are housed in the Museum of Glass in Corning, New York.
In 1965 he was invited to the Mazzega factory, where he worked until 1980. During this time, the designer created many iconic lighting designs that remain in demand today. Nason's work has been exhibited for decades in a number of art and design museums and galleries in Paris, Milan and New York.
