The Wolksted Porcelain Factory was one of the earliest porcelain manufactories in Germany. Founded on September 8, 1760, by the porcelain master Georg Heinrich Machelid (1723-1801). Wolkstead, along with Capodimonte, has earned a reputation for its beautifully painted and carefully modeled porcelain figures, which are still highly sought after by collectors.
