Unusual panel “Beautiful Mutamagawa”. The base is made of a marble board, on which a pattern of semi-precious pigments is applied: opal, calcite, garnet, rhodonite, aventurine, agate, malachite, epidote, jadeite, jade, hematite, jasper, galena, jet and volcanic rocks. The panel depicts a free reproduction of one of the works of the Japanese artist Utamaro Kitagawa from the “Beautiful Mutamagawa” series.

Interpretation of the plots of the poetry collection “Mutamagawa” (Furyu mu tamagawa - “Six Precious Rivers”) is a theme beloved by Japanese poets for many centuries. Many artists worked on this theme, including the famous Utamaro series of six prints depicting portraits of Yoshiwara's courtesans.
