Antique vases "Cranes and chrysanthemums" in the technique of yusen-sippo
Antique vases "Cranes and chrysanthemums". Cranes symbolize longevity, and chrysanthemums - happiness. Made in the technique of yusen-sippo (the so-called Japanese cloisonne). Unlike the relatively common Chinese cloisonne, the sippo technique is more labor intensive. The background of such products is plain and does not contain visible metal partitions, while on the Chinese cloisonne one can easily see the contours of metal partitions. Most often, the background for the main yusen-sippo pattern is monochromatic (light blue, blue or black), and the pattern itself was with complex color transitions. The vases depict mountain views with cranes and wisteria. Japan, Meiji period, 19th century.
