Antique statuette "Baby with a sock". Porcelain, underglaze painting, Royal Copenhagen stamp. Denmark, the twentieth century.

The sculptor Ada Bonfils masterfully conveyed the anatomical features of early childhood: plump folds on the legs and neck, a rounded tummy, soft contours of the shoulders and the characteristic proportions of the head. The child clutches a tiny sock in his left hand. This funny everyday touch gives the composition a special touchiness, spontaneity and warmth.
