The porcelain factory Hertwig & Co was founded by Christoph Herwig in 1864 in the town with the cute name Katzhutte (Cat's House). The production of dolls brought worldwide fame to the factory, but disagreements in the leadership and the consequences of the economic crisis in post-war Germany actually drained the company of blood. In the 80s and 90s, the factory stopped producing products and was demolished in 2011.
