Wallendorf is one of the oldest German manufactories. The founder of the factory is Johann-Wolfgang Hamann. Production began in 1761, but the license was obtained only in 1764, which is considered to be the year of its foundation. For the first 15 years, the products were not of good quality, until white clay from the Czech Republic was used. The purity and whiteness of the porcelain allowed Wallendorf to compete with the Meissen brand, and the increased durability of the products was compared to metal, according to legend.
