Koran Tea Set, Japan
Vintage set from the workshops of Koransia, Fukagawa. Japan, twentieth century. Porcelain, glaze, gold painting, enamel paints. There is an orchid marking attributed to Fukagawa and Koransha companies. Fukagawa is a family, a place, and currently a porcelain manufactory in the Arita region. Its history dates back to the 17th century; it begins with Ezaiemon Fukagawa, who in 1856 headed the family porcelain business with his brother Takeji, and in 1875 founded the Koransha company in Arita (translated as "Fragrant Orchid Company"). One of the variants of the stamp / stamp was a symbol in the form of a stylized orchid.
