Mihai Topescu was born in 1956. He lives and works in Târgu Jiu (Gorj County, Romania). He received his education at the Academy of Fine Arts “I. Andrescu” in Cluj‑Napoca (1977–1981). In Tzopescu’s work, glass is the physical foundation. The artist emphasizes the ability of crystal to seduce, to captivate optically, and to harbour a secret, even without relying on the fragility of this material. Technically inexhaustible, Mihai Tzopescu turned this “art of fire” into a kind of interdisciplinary field where sculptural elements utilise features inherent in painting and graphic art.
