Antique Renaissance buffet. Oak, carving, stained glass. Belgium, Mechelen, 1900s

An object of amazing beauty, as if transporting others to the era when Pieter Bruegel worked. The upper part is decorated with patterns like scales, if we recall the early depiction of a dolphin, where the sacred mammal was depicted as just the same scaly. French kings were also called dauphins, from fr. words - dauphin. The side parts are represented by figures that could make up an entire orchestra; here are depicted musicians with a lute, clarinet, violin. The figures of the musicians are dressed in medieval fashion. Their legs rest on mascarons and bunches of berries carved from wood. The doors are stained glass shutters in good condition. On the sides are lion heads with rings clamped in the mouth.

The lower part is decorated no less richly. The doors are carved with scenes from the life of the townspeople of a medieval city, possibly the same Mechelen. The heroes of this performance are depicted as merry revelers, some are on the streets of the city, others are in a tavern, where the floor, characters, chandeliers, cups and pots with a window are carved into the wood. pens and rings in lion's mouths are bronze, on the sides there are again figures of musicians. A great opportunity to plunge into the medieval atmosphere and see how people of that era could live.
