The Delafontaine bronze factory was first founded in the mid-18th century by Jean-Baptiste-Maximilian Delafontaine (1750). In 1870, it was reorganized into a company - Rue de L'Université, which produced the highest quality decorative works of art and was the main competitor of the Barbedienne foundry.
