In 1945, Max Grundig (engineer and co-founder of the transformer manufacturer Furth, Grundig & Wurzer) moved all of his equipment to a warehouse in Fuerth, Bavaria, and focused on radio technology. The new company was named Grundig. By 1947, the company had already entered the global market. Grundig stereo consoles enjoyed long-standing popularity both in the West and in the USSR.  The company only began to experience difficulties in the 1990s, when Asian manufacturers entered the market. In 2001, Grundig was declared bankrupt.
