This vintage sculpture depicts a majestic dragon. The composition is made of agalmatolite, a stone often called the "lucky stone" in China. The dragon is coiled on a base shaped like a rectangular stand. Eight stylized dragons are depicted on the sides of the base. This decoration is no accident. Together with the central sculptural composition, it makes a total of nine dragons, a number symbolizing family ties and associated with the wish for prosperity. Its curved and dynamic body creates a sense of movement and life, while intricate twists and interweavings highlight the craftsmanship and richness of detail.
