Pair of vintage sculptures "Pi X iu"
Paired vintage sculptures "Pi Xiu". Made of bronze using the cloisonné technique. Pi Xiu is a spirit from Chinese mythology, which was originally called Bise, that is, driving away troubles, evil, natural disasters. He is often depicted as a winged lion. Bise brings wealth, according to legend, he was one of the sons of the dragon who was banished to earth, and also had the ability to absorb gold and silver, which, accumulating in him, attracts even more luck and wealth. He is able to find and attract prosperity and well-being from everywhere. Pi Xiu is also the guardian of tea, his figurine drives away evil spirits and bad intentions. Asia, 20th century.
The technique of cloisonné enamel originated in China in the 14th century. Products made in this technique gained unprecedented popularity in the 17th century and were used mainly to decorate imperial palaces and temples. Today, art objects made using the cloisonné enamel technique decorate modern interiors, giving them a bright oriental flavor.
