Bust of the poetess Sappho, marble. Europe, XX century Based on a bronze bust by sculptor E.Villanis.
The tenth muse, as Socrates called her, is beautiful, the poetess Sappho was noble, beautiful, her demeanor was charming, her lively mind was her main decoration. Her image adorned clay vessels, coins, her image is depicted in statues.
The work is made after the original in bronze, owned by the hand of the sculptor Emmanuel Villani (1814-1914).
