Vintage sculpture "Emperor Di X in"
Vintage dummy sculpture "Emperor Di Xin". Made of ceramics, there is a mechanism with music. China, 1970-80s.
The last ruler of the Shang dynasty - Di Xin led his state to decline because of his love of strong drink. He conquered many neighboring kingdoms, significantly expanding the boundaries of his possession. However, after the victory, Di Xin abandoned his duties, stopped caring about the well-being of his subjects, and instead focused on alcohol. He could drink non-stop for a full seven days. This led to the desolation of the affairs of the state and its collapse. Enemies of Di Xin took advantage of this moment, organized a rebellion, seized power and accused him of drunkenness, debauchery and revelry. For the first time in Chinese history, an army opposed its ruler.
