Vintage vase "Heron", lacquer, painting. China, 20th century.

Initially, the lacquer, moisture-resistant coating should protect the surface of the object from wear, but China elevated lacquer to the rank of art. Bowls, vases, and other containers made of multi-layer black lacquer are in private collections around the world. When making a product from lacquer, excess liquid is evaporated so that it hardens. Lacquer also has a higher function - colors and shades had their own meaning, so black meant earth, it was a favorable color. The whole process is dedicated to the five elements and is associated with them in the manufacturing process.

The image of a heron correlates with family values, patience, tact.
