Antique sculpture "Angelfish" in the style of Eugenio Pattarino (1885-1971). Ceramics, glaze, hand-painted. Eugenio Pattarino (1885-1971) was a renowned mid-century Italian ceramicist from Florence who created collectible, whimsical and brightly colored ceramic sculptures of fish, often in the form of angelfish or sunfish. His works, often signed "E. Pattarino Firenze" or "Prof. E. Pattarino", are decorated with glaze, iridescent or polychrome decor and were sometimes made for Marbro. His style was inspired by the coast, bright, often with iridescent polychrome glazes. Faience or terracotta products made in the 1950s and 1960s reflect both realistic and modern artistic styles. Many of the preserved items have minor wear, such as tiny notches on the ribs. Pattarino, who ran a studio near Florence's Ponte Vecchio Bridge, was known for his extensive ceramics work before the 1966 flood destroyed many of his molds.
