Friedrich Goldscheider founded the Goldscheider majolica factory in Vienna in 1885. In a short time, the factory was successful by opening subsidiaries in Paris, Florence and Leipzig.

The manufactory was especially famous for its terracotta, ceramic as well as faience objects of art, collecting and is considered one of the leading ceramic factories of the late 19th - early 20th century.
