Soon, the symphony was performed in Germany, the USA, and other countries; the Seventh Symphony, “Leningrad,” written in 1941, in the early years of the Great Patriotic War, which became a symbol of the unbroken Leningrad, and the Fifth and Thirteenth Symphonies. The tragedy, lyricism, and depth of the music reflect the difficult era in which the composer Dmitry Shostakovich lived. The sculptural portrait was made by sculptor Andrey Alekseevich Ananyev (born in 1963, Leningrad. Russian teacher, sculptor, member of the Union of Artists since 1990. He graduated from the I.E. Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, and has taught at the Institute since 1996. A. Ananyev created portraits of the composer in different years; for example, between 1989 and 1991, he worked in a creative workshop under the guidance of M.K. Anikushin.
