Glenna Avila is an American artist of Cuban descent. Despite the fact that Avila was born in California (1953), her work is influenced by the original motifs of Liberty Island. Avila's work is exhibited at the Laguna Museum of Art and is held in the collection of the University of California, Santa Barbara. Photos of the artist’s works can be periodically seen on the pages of the Los Angeles Times. Among the artist’s works there are many frescoes; for example, she decorated a wall in the Jose Marti Association of Cuban Friendship.

In 1975, Avila received a BFA in Fine and Studio Art from the University of California, Los Angeles. In 1975-1976, she continued her education as a graduate student at the University of New Mexico, receiving a Master of Arts degree. Returning to Los Angeles, she became an art instructor for the citywide Murals program with Judy Baca, in which she supervised the creation of 250 murals, including works by John Valadez and Carlos Almaraz. She later became the Director of Youth Programs for the Wallis Annenberg Public Arts Partnership Program at CalArts.
